Expressions of Trauma and How Hypnosis Helps

There are health care providers/healers who ascribe to the theory that virtually all "dis-ease" and/or abnormal behavior patterns can be traced back to some kind of trauma (or multiple traumas) in the affected person's life. This includes such difficulties as phobias, habits and addictions, tics, interpersonal conflicts and emotional illnesses. But it can also include those conditions labeled as incurable by the medical establishment, such as stuttering, certain neurological conditions and injuries, illnesses such as cancer in advanced stages and many, many other afflictions. The belief is that for each person the trauma they experience is expressed either physically or psychically in a way that is particular to that person and/or event. These same healers also believe that through the person's own healing power and potential, wholeness and health can nearly always be restored, or at the very least, the person's physical and mental state can be improved significantly.

Some people experience what is called "spontaneous remission or cure" without the assistance of anyone or anything. Others may achieve a dis-ease free state through the combined efforts of the affected person and a healing assistant. Some of these helpers may be massage therapists, chiropractors, homeopathic practitioners and/or energy workers. We believe that one of the most effective and powerful assistants can be a well trained, caring, sensitive and experienced certified clinical hypnotherapist. Both Gaye and Randy meet these criteria.

How do we aid a person in their quest for restoration of health and well being? To be truthful, the way either of us helps a particular person is an individual matter; therefore we use a personal approach for each and every session. There are no "scripts" or "canned" sessions offered to our clients, every session is custom-tailored to each client. For instance, sometimes just developing a sense of trust and rapport can ease a person's perceived burdens immeasurably, allowing them to regain a sense of balance and relief. In this case it may be that learning self-hypnosis and deep relaxation techniques may be sufficient to allow the client to enjoy life again. However, oftentimes, after several sessions and as the client feels more comfortable and trusting, the "core issue" underlying their condition becomes apparent and we begin to understand the basis for their expressed "dis-ease" or problem. It is at this time that an individual approach becomes vital to a complete and permanent cure or relief of each client's specific symptoms.

By assisting clients to return to the initial sensitizing event in a safe and emotionally protected way we can help them to see the event from, perhaps a different perspective. For instance, a frisky dog that jumps on a small child can traumatize a sensitive child in such a way as to cause a life-long phobia of dogs or even cause the child to stutter. When the individual looks back at the event as an adult they can see that the dog was just being playful, so they no longer feel threatened. The potency of the event is diluted, the magnitude of the event is put into a more realistic perspective and the person can be freed of the effects of this once traumatic experience. Through hypnotherapy the cause of the phobia or hesitant speech pattern is permanently removed. This is the focus of our practice, the way that we help each of our clients heal in their own individual way.

Gaye and Randy can and help you return to a state of health and happiness.
